First of all we were not intended to carry grief & sorrow. In the beginning God did not make man like that. It was the fall that produced sorrow an brought grief in the world.

You are not to carry your sorrows!! He borne our griefs, & carried our sorrows… (Is. 53:4-5)

1 Cor. 7:10 For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death].

Godly grief and sorrow turns you to God. Worldly sorrow only brings hopelessness & leds to death. (Death also because it draws you away from God) This is why satan uses hopelessness 7 sorrow. He wants to draw you away from God.

Satan wants to take your hope away. Hope is a refuge! Hope is an anchor! We have a better hope (which draws us near to God, Heb. 7:19)!

Worldly grief attacks the character of God, His promise & His oath, Heb. 6:17-19. Satan knows if we doubt God’s promises we will have no strength. BUT those who run to God for refuge will have strength & strong encouragement to grasp & hold fast the hope appointed to us & that which is set before us. This hope reaches farther than we can imagine. This hope reaches the very throne of God.

Ecc. 11:10 Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh:

Remove it far from you!!!!

27 …lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

Worldly sorrow produces sorrow upon sorrow. This is a deep sorrow that only can led to more sorrow.

1 Tim 6:10 …they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Sometimes we cause sorrow in our lives. As it says above we move away from “The Faith”. As we do this we will have MANY sorrows.

Worldly sorrow produces: anger, oppression, bitterness, no hope, turns you away from God. (And much more)

Godly sorrows produces: joy, gladness, praise, rejoicing, repentance, turns you to God. (And much more)

We are to cast our cares on Him because He cares for us.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

He cares for us with affection and with a watchful eye. We are to cast our cares to Him.

1) to cast, throw

2) throw down

3) to cast forward or before

4) to set down (with the suggestion of haste and want of care)

5) to throw to the ground, prostrate

“to throw, cast, hurl, to be cast down, prostrate,”

(This is from the Strongs & Vines concordances)

Make haste today to cast those cares on Him before they turn into ungodly Sorrow and turns you from God.

We are not without Hope. In time past we were without hope. As the world is without hope now.

Ephesians 2:12  That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Do not listen to Satan as He attacks you and tries to keep down. He will try to give you so much sorrow and grief that you will turn from God. As though it is His fault that you are going through what you are going through. Satan is a liar and He will have his end soon.

God thinks about you! He has plans for you. These are good plans. He will give you hope.

Jer. 29:11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

We have hope in this life and for the next!

Worldly Sorrow = leds to no Hope & no God!

Godly Sorrow = leds to Hope & to God!!!!

The bible has a lot to say about things we should do and not do. The way we should be and not be. How we should act and not act. How we should respond and not respond.

Don’t do & Don’t Be:

Fear not

Be not dismayed

Dread not

Be not afraid

Let not your mind & heart faint

Do not tremble

Be not terrified

Be not a coward

Be not depressed

Be not dismayed

Be not broken in spirit

Be not timid

Panic not

Be not grieved

Be not offended

Sorrow not

Then Do & Be:

Be strong

Be courageous

Be firm

Stand Still

Trust Him

Be of good cheer

Seek God

Inquirer of the Lord

Cry out to God

Go forward

Be joyful

Take your position

And much, much more.

I have good news and bad news. The bad news is you can not do any of this! NONE!

The good news is The Holy Spirit was given so you can do all things with His help. He is our helper.

John 14:26 Amp.

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.

We must place our faith in what Jesus did at the cross and that gives the latitude to the Holy Spirit to help us. He will cause us to do, be, and have all that God wants for us to have. Be all that you can be, Only if you place your faith in what Jesus did for you and with the Help of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:4

So that the righteous and just requirement of the Law might be fully met in us who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the Holy Spirit].

Romans 8:5

For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.

Romans 8:6

Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].

Romans 8:13

For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.

Romans 8:26

So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groaning too deep for utterance.

Romans 15:13

May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.

Galatians 5:16

But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

2 Timothy 1:14

Guard and keep [with the greatest care] the precious and excellently adapted [Truth] which has been entrusted [to you], by the [help of the] Holy Spirit Who makes His home in us.

I know that this is a lot of scriptures, but there are many more. We must let the Holy Spirit help us. God sent his Son and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit. We are not set up to fail. We are in a position to succeed. But a lot of times we are our worse enemy. We stop ourselves because of our past mistakes or sins. We must trust that what Jesus did was enough and the with the help of the Holy Spirit we can make it. God made provision for us, even when we did not deserve it. So do not look at the past or look to self, but trust that when Jesus said: “IT IS FINISHED”, He meant it. And trust Jesus when He said He would send the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit to be our helper. We can make it in life. We do not have to be defeated. Just Him today. Today is the day of salvation. Today His mercies are new. They are new every morning. We can start today. So trust and obey!
