Today is my birthday and I seen this scripture (Psalm 119:133) and it is my prayer today. I don’t want my human weakness to ever have power over me. I don’t want to give into that weakness in my own strength. That will for sure separate me from God. When I rely on my own strength my weakness comes forth and causes me to sin.

John 15: without Him I can do nothing… I need to depend on the Grace of the Mediator – Jesus Christ- for I live, move, and have my being in Him. I can do nothing towards Justification or Sanctification in myself.

Psalm 119:133  (AMP)

Establish my footsteps in [the way of] Your word;

Do not let any human weakness have power over me [causing me to be separated from You].

Matthew Henry:

Here David prays for two great spiritual blessings, and is, in this verse, as earnest for the good work of God in him as, in the verse before, for the good-will of God towards him. He prays, 1. For direction in the paths of duty: “Order my steps in thy word; having led me into the right way, let every step I take in that way be under the guidance of thy grace.” We ought to walk by rule; all the motions of the soul must not only be kept within the bounds prescribed by the word, so as not to transgress them, but carried out in the paths prescribed by the word, so as not to trifle in them. And therefore we must beg of God that by his good Spirit he would order our steps accordingly. 2. For deliverance from the power of sin: “Let no iniquity have dominion over me, so as to gain my consent to it, and that I should be led captive by it.” The dominion of sin is to be dreaded and deprecated by every one of us; and, if in sincerity we pray against it, we may receive that promise as an answer to the prayer (Rom. 6:14), Sin shall not have dominion over you.

Good news He started the work in me and will continue it!

Philippians 1:6  (KJV)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Matthew Henry:

Observe here, (1.) The work of grace is a good work, a blessed work; for it makes us good, and is an earnest of good to us. It makes us like God, and fits us for the enjoyment of God. That may well be called a good work which does us the greatest good. (2.) Wherever this good work is begun it is of God’s beginning: He has begun a good work in you. We could not begin it ourselves, for we are by nature dead in trespasses and sins: and what can dead men do towards raising themselves to life; or how can they begin to act till they are enlivened in the same respect in which they are said to be dead? It is God who quickens those who are thus dead, Eph. 2:1; Col. 2:13. (3.) The work of grace is but begun in this life; it is not finished here; as long as we are in this imperfect state there is something more to be done. (4.) If the same God who begins the good work did not undertake the carrying on and finishing of it, it would lie for ever unfinished. He must perform it who began it. (5.) We may be confident, or well persuaded, that God not only will not forsake, but that he will finish and crown the work of his own hands. For, as for God, his work is perfect. (6.) The work of grace will never be perfected till the day of Jesus Christ, the day of his appearance. When he shall come to judge the world, and finish his mediation, then this work will be complete, and the top-stone will be brought forth with shouting. We have the same expression, Phil. 1:10.

He began the work in me. I didn’t love Him first. While I was still in sin, Rom. 5:8 He clearly shows and proved His love for me, Christ died for me! This work of Grace is beyond what this world can understand. By nature we are dead in our sins and dead men can’t raise themselves. He raised me in newness of life. He started this work of Grace and will keep working that Grace in me until Jesus comes or I go home to be with Him.

This is my favorite verse:

Lamentations 3:22-24 Amplified Bible (AMP)

It is because of the Lord’s loving-kindnesses that we are not consumed,

Because His [tender] compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;

Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion and my inheritance,” says my soul;

“Therefore I have hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.”

Every morning we can wake up new. We do not have to bring yesterday into today. We can live today without condemnation. We can ask for forgiveness and He is faithful and just to forgive us. (1 john 1:9) God is faithful and will not leave us nor forsake us.

Hebrews 13:5  (AMP)

Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”

I am thankful for my life. It has been a full life since I came to know Jesus as my Savior. My prayer is those who meet me will come to know Him too.

Who told you that you were naked?

Many time we fail or we have fallen short of who we should be. The accuser daily is condemning us. We hear a voice say, “You are lost”, or “You are not worthy”. When you listen to the voice it drains you of your joy. It drains you of your excitement of life. You go through your day without expression of God’s love for you and others. You allow the little things angry you or upset you. He tells you that you are naked. You can’t get back to God’s love. You went to far. You keep doing the same wrong over and over, now you went too far. HE IS A LIAR. The Victory has been won.

BUT God has redeem you from this condemnation. Jesus came and won the victory and has covered you with His blood.

Adam & Eve walked with God in the garden daily. But when they disobeyed him and ate of the tree their eyes were open to things they weren’t meant to see or experience.

Genesis 3:8-15 They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden… They hid themselves from the presence of God… God said where are you? Adam said I heard the sound of You and hid myself, I was afraid because I was naked. God said, Who told you that you were naked?

Fast forward to Jesus. When He came and died on The Cross for us our fellowship with God was restored. We are covered by His blood.

He has won the victory. Jesus is the head of the church and we are his body. Just as in a race when the head crosses the finish line, the race is won. Jesus has cross that line and is now seated at the right hand of God. I am complete in Him Who is the Head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10).

Who told you that you were naked?

Revelation 12:10 … for the accuser of our [believing] brothers and sisters has been thrown down [at last], he who accuses them and keeps bringing charges [of sinful behavior] against them before our God day and night.

God has provided a way to combat these accusations, Jesus!

Romans 8:1 [ Escape from Bondage ] Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].

Who told you that you were naked? Who told you that you were not forgiven or can’t be forgiven.

When you accept Jesus and what he did at The Cross you are cleansed & forgiven. Walk in that promise.

1 John 1:7 – “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

1 John 1:9 If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].

Who told you that you were naked? Who told yo that you were a slave to sin. You are redeemed. Walk in that promise.

Ephesians 1:7 – “In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

Colossians 1:13 – “He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.”

John 8:36 – “If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.”

Who told you that you were naked? Who told you that you can’t go to God for all your needs? You have access.

Romans 5:2 – “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Hebrews 10:19-22 – “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.”

You told you that you were naked? You told you that you were unloved?

John 3:16 “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

I am holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 1:16).

I am more than a conqueror through Him Who loves me (Romans 8:37).

I am greatly loved by God (Romans 1:7; Ephesians 2:4; Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4).

You told you that you were naked? You told you that you couldn’t be healed?

When Jesus shed His blood He became our Passover Lamb. We must apply His blood to the door posts of our hearts and claim the healing provided through His atoning blood. The atonement brings spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental healing.

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not. Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and With His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:3-5).

Exodus 15:26 – “I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians (the world) for I, the Lord, am your healer.”

Who told you that you were naked? Who told you that you were not clothed?

We are clothed with the righteousness of Jesus

As believers in Christ, there is a great exchange that has taken place. One of the things exchanged is our sin for Jesus’ own righteousness. Let’s take a look at a few scriptures:

Romans 3:22, “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.”

Romans 3:25, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”

Romans 5:17, “For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

Jesus received what we deserved (punishment for our sins), and He gave us His righteousness in exchange!

We daily walk in the victory Jesus supplied for us. We have not arrived yet. We have been changed, we are being changed, and we will be changed.

Don’t let the accuser tell you that you are naked. He is a liar. You may have sinned and fallen short, yes indeed you have, BUT God has provided His only son so you can walk daily in newness of life. You are a victor in life. The enemy lies to you and tells you not to keep trying, just quit, you can’t make it, you have nothing in you that will provide you strength. HE IS  A LIAR!

Get up my friend. Walk in the victory provide you. Because He has provided all for you and the victory is won already. Don’t look at who you are outside of that victory. What you do is not what gave you the victory and is not what keeps that victory. Praise God it is not us that keeps us in the midst of challenges. It is Jesus and what He has done. THE VICTORY is won. Praise God.

Father help us to see these promises. Help us to fight the good fight of faith. It is Jesus who came so that we can have life and life more abundantly. Remind us daily that we are loved. Also, that we are forgiven and we can come to  you. That you desire us to look to you, not this world or ourselves. We are nothing without you. Oh Father when the voices come and are loud reveal yourself to us and quiet our hearts. Give us ears to hear. In Jesus Name, Amen!

This is a phrase that people say all the time, myself included. In fact I have said this many times. If things don’t work as they should have, I just say “I did my Best” without even thinking about it. But the Lord has been dealing with me about this.

OUR BEST IS TAINTED!

Because of the fall, our best is tainted and is not good enough. That is another phrase we say, “Oh that is good enough”.

We either look at others to compare our actions or we compare ourselves with ourselves.

Eph. 5:1 THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

Be followers, be imitators of God, not each other. Our standard of comparison, as to how we compare our life and action is Christ. People are in a rut of being average because they compare themselves among themselves.

“I did my Best”, But did you do God’s Best??

Many teachings today has to do with Self improvement. Faith in self. God does not want us to improve on self. He wants to be conformed into the image of Christ, not others or our old self.

1 Pet. 1:13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Prepare your mind for action. In order for you to walk in the vision & be all that God wants you to be, you are going to have to make some tuff decisions about your life. You are going to have to decide to raise the standard in your life. With Jesus as your standard.

1 Pet. 1:13-16

13 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,

 15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;

16 because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

The standard and measurement must be Jesus!!

1 Cor. 10:12-13

12 Not that we [have the audacity to] venture to class or [even to] compare ourselves with some who exalt and furnish testimonials for themselves! However, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely.

13 We, on the other hand, will not boast beyond our legitimate province and proper limit, but will keep within the limits [of our commission which] God has allotted us as our measuring line and which reaches and includes even you.

We are behaving unwisely and without understanding when we compare ourselves with others. We must rise above, we must stop comparing ourselves with others. Even stop comparing ourselves with ourselves. “Well I am better than what I used to be”.  That is good, but that doesn’t matter and should not be our standard to live by. We are not to look at self.

Sometimes we settle for the way things are because we think we have no choice. We need to get a vision beyond ourselves.

We let what others have said about us hold us back. We let our past experiences hold us back. We must let the Spirit of God led us!! (Rom. 8)

We must do things God’s way. Our Best is not good enough.

People say “Good is the enemy of Best”.  But I say, “Our Best is the enemy of God’s good”.

We try to do good works, but they are not God’s good works. We look to self to perform those works. This produces pride in our lives. Which causes us to say “I did my Best”.

Eph. 2:9-10 (AMP.)

9 Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]

10 For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

I like what this says about works. We are to do those good works which God predestined (prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live).

We live so far below what God has for us, because we look to our best. Don’t look at the best of other either. There is a gap from where we are and where we could be. We limit our vision of what God can do through us when we look to self. We are limited in what we can do.

You must fully cooperate with the Holy Spirit & in the effort that He wants to do in our hearts & lives while at the same time recognizing that only the Holy Spirit can perform the work. If we look to Jesus and what He did for us, that gives the Holy Spirit latitude to work in us and change us.

We will do more than our best when we totally trust in Him. Then we can touch this world. Our lives will truly be changed, when we realize our best is not God’s best. He has so much more for us than we can ask or think of.

Please don’t let condemnation come on you because you try and do your best. We must reach beyond ourselves. We must not limit ourselves to what we can do, that limits what God wants to do in us and through us. Trust God to take you beyond self. Again, today there is so much out there about self and how we can improve it. Well that is a good try from Satan to keep us average and below God’s Best. So look to Jesus and what He did for you and let the Holy Spirit work in your live so you can go beyond your Best and go into God’s best for you!!!
