True rest does not come from having a vacation. Many times we try doing so many things to try and get rest. We take 2 weeks off, but when we get back, we need a vacation from our vacation. We try to sit quit for awhile. We try to get a massage and many other things. But after all the things we try, we are still tired.

But true rest only comes as we place our faith in what Jesus did at the Cross daily. Just as when we got saved and we trusted the message of the Cross and believed that is the only true rest!

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Heavy laden means over burden with ceremony. We want to do things to get the rest we need. We try to do things to get what we think God has for us. We work as Martha did. But it is the work for the Lord. But we need to sit at His feet and hear His voice. We need to trust Him that as we do take the time to spend with Him all the other things and work that needs to be done, He will give us strength.

You only get “burned out” when you trust yourself and you get your eyes off the one who gives you rest. You changed your focus from Jesus to what you are doing.

Matthew 11:28-29Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Learn of Me! Learn of Me! Learn of Me!

He will give you rest as you come unto Him. You shall find rest as you learn of Him continually.

May you come unto Him, but may you learn of Him, and stay there. This world has nothing to offer. All that they try to do to give a person rest has no lasting value. Taking a vacation will not work. The problems will still be there when you get back.

Jesus says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Find true rest today. Are you already saved and do not have rest, the answer is the same!!!!

In 1 Sam 30 David’s family was taken. And those of his men. They came to the town and saw it burned and that the women & children were taken captive. Then the men talked of stoning David because they were so grieved.

BUT “David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”

There comes a time in everyone’s life were they must go on there own and encourage themselves. Family, Friends, coworkers, etc… will not be there for you. They might even be against you. They will not always understand what God is doing in you. You must not look at the raging storm around you. Do not look to people or at people. You can not take your led from them. Remember the bible says they were all greatly distressed, bitter, & grieved. You must not let others pull you down.

But, ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD! Know your God, He is your refuge.

Many people read the Psalms because David experienced many things and but he knew where his helped came from.

The bible says in 1 Sam 30:8 David inquired of the Lord. That is the first thing we need to do to encourage ourselves is to look to God for our answer.

Encourage yourself means – encourage, support, aide, refresh, relieve, soothe, console, fastened, strengthen, waxed strong, fortify, make strong, become strong, be encourage, cheer up.

We can not do this looking to ourselves. We must keep our eyes on the Lord where our help comes from. HE ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD!

We must turn our face toward the wall and see nothing but GOD!

Whose report will you believe?

Where are you getting your belief system from?

There are so many scriptures in Psalms that show David crying out to the Lord for deliverance. He knew that only the LORD could deliver him.

Ps 40:2-3(AMP) He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction,] out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock steadying my steps and establishing my goings and He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.

He knew his help only  came from the LORD. We can not look at people. Like Prov. 4:25 says “let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose] & let your gaze be straight before you]. ONLY LOOKING TO HIM!

Encourage yourself in the LORD. Read His word and believe.

Ps 37:1 Fret not yourself because of evil doers… For they soon will be cut off. Trust in the Lord & do good. Delight in the Lord… commit they ways to Him, trust in Him, Rest in the Lord & be patient. Lean on Him…

Ps 107:20  He sent His word, & healed them, & delivered them for their destruction.

Ps 46:1 God IS our Refuge and Strength [might and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

Read Psalms 23, 27, 35,91,103 Well just read all of Psalms.

In these last times will come of discouragement, sadness, sorrow. We must always look to the LORD. He is our help. If we look to other for our encouragement we will get pulled down to the same pit they are in. Tough times are coming and many will depart from the faith. We can not and should not be moved. We can only be strong as we are IN THE LORD! Not ourselves or others.
